oOh! Media founder Brendon Cook steps down after 30 years
oOh! Media chief executive Brendon Cook will step down from the outdoor advertising company he founded more than 30 years ago. Mr Cook, who started the business as Outdoor Network Australia in 1989, will remain in his role until a replacement is appointed and will then work with oOh! Media as a non-executive consultant.

UK: Adspend: unaffected by political and economic uncertainty
UK adspend rose 5.6% year-on-year to reach £5.97bn in Q3 2019, according to the latest figures from Advertising Association and WARC published today, with full year spending projected to increase 5.2% to hit £24.8bn. The Advertising Association/WARC Expenditure Report shows the July to September period was 0.8 percentage points ahead of forecast and marked the 25th consecutive quarter of growth.

There is quite literally only one certainty about predictions, and that is how “the future is not Google-able.” (William Gibson). Yes, we can give rigorous evidence-based forecasts of the rational - DOOH is growing, and saw growth of +17.1% in Q3, comparable to Q2 (+17.2%) and stronger than Q1 2019 (+11%) Classic OOH is also growing [Q3 (+2.4%), slightly up on Q2 (+2.3%), and the entire market is in great health [OOH in the UK reporting growth of 9.8% YoY in Q3 2019].

According to a new consumer survey carried out by YouGov for Ocean Outdoor, nearly half (49%) of 18 to 24-year-olds say they would be interested in seeing more live content on digital out of home (DOOH) advertising screens.

Out of home industry investment banker/cancer survivor Mark Boidman and his firm PJ Solomon are participating in the ride for survival to raise money to fund innovative studies and clinical trials led by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The Outdoor Media Association (OMANZ) reported impressive revenue growth in 2019 of 14.2%, taking annual revenues to $141.25m, with every quarter in the year contributing to the annual growth. This result is the continuation of a growth trend for the sector which has seen a four-year consolidated annual growth rate of 37%.
