WOO Africa Forum: ‘Sustainability by Design’ from JCDecaux joins programme. More Speakers announced

JCDecaux Country Managers Jennifer Kachabe and Thato Pekeche have joined the line-up of speakers for the World Out of Home Organization’s Africa Forum on February 3 to present
‘Sustainability by Design.’

Kachabe is the JCDecaux Zambia country Manager. She joined JCDecaux in 2013 from Alliance and has also worked in senior roles in South Africa and Tanzania.

Pekeche is the Country Manager for Lesotho and Eswatini. She joined JCDecaux in 2014 after a career in advertising and then as manager of South Africa’s biggest shopping mall.

‘Sustainability by Design’ will examine the status of sustainability in the African Out of Home Market and highlight some of JCDecaux’s initiatives in this area. Sustainability is one of the most pressing issues for the OOH industry worldwide, as stakeholders’ expectations in this area are rising considerably.

A further additional speaker is Greg Benetar, Sales Director of Alliance Media. Alliance has a presence in over 50 African Countries. Benetar will discuss investment in the African OOH industry and the various issues confronting it in the future including regulation and devaluing currencies.

In addition, Ben Milne, newly-appointed Global Head of Out of Home at Dentsu's Amplifi media innovation and investment arm, will present Africa in the context of a global overview, from one of the world's largest media companies.

Kachabe, Pekeche, Benetar and Milne join a line-up that includes a keynote interview between OMG General Manager Celia Collins and WOO President Tom Goddard and Jacques Du Preez of Provantage Media on the market in Africa.

Jennifer Daniel, Vice President Partnerships at Telmar, will lead a panel including Maria Truter, Managing Partner of Ogilvy Kenya and Zambia; Merlene Farquhar, Senior OOH specialist at GroupM and Carine Hattejee, Managing Partner Simply Black Media. They will review the current state of the industry and its prospects, including the ongoing challenges of diversity and representation.

WOO CMO Richard Saturley says: “We’re delighted that Jennifer and Thato from JCDecaux aa well as Greg and Ben can join what is already a stellar line-up of Africa Forum speakers.

"Sustainability is an increasingly important issue for OOH, not just in Africa but globally. Jennifer and Thato will bring a fascinating insight into this vital issue. Ongoing investment in the industry is critical and Greg is ideally placed to update the Forum on investment issues and prospects."
