WOO Poland Forum: Kai-Marcus Thäsler on the enemy at the gates – legislators take aim at OOH

All across Europe, pressure groups and some legislators are taking aim at Out of Home – not only because of its impact on urban environments, but because of the content of some high-profile campaigns, including those for fossil fuels.

There are currently flash points in major centres including Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and, latterly, Hungary following a change of government. The trend is likely to continue as parties such as the Greens in the UK gather more votes in forthcoming local and national elections.

Speaking at the WOO Central European Forum in Warsaw, Dr Kai-Marcus Thäsler, an acknowledged expert on legal and political affairs, will discuss the implications of further and more restrictive legislation as the European OOH industry – among other businesses – grapples with issues including inflation, government debt and the rise of more extreme political parties.

WOO President Tom Goddard says: "The Out of Home industry is growing strongly in Europe, as elsewhere, but we need to make sure we stay on the right side of legislation so that we grow in an orderly and socially responsible way. Ultimately this will lead to an even healthier and more dynamic industry.
